I was a student in the Honors College at UNCG and I completed a senior project to earn the Disciplinary Honors distinction on my diploma and transcript. For my project I created a size-inclusive westernwear collection inspired by 1970s country-western glamour combined with the Elle Woods "pink power" aesthetic that I really enioy working within. Almost all of the fabric used in this collection is denim I hand dyed myself, and most of these looks are adjustable in size through smartly utilized elastic. This was my first time drafting woven pants and a fully tailored suit from scratch, using the techniques I learned at my 2021 internship with Manuel Cuevas in Nashville.
This project took first place in the Visual Arts category of UNCG's annual Undergraduate Student Research and Creativity Expo, making me the first person from the Consumer, Apparel, and Retail Studies department to take first place in any category of the competition.
